Meet Sara O’Reilly, Wellness & Nutrition Instructor

Miss Sara.jpg

MSOW is fortunate to support our children with mindfulness and nutrition instruction. Sara is committed to the value of this Wellness curriculum and began to teach mindfulness to MSOW students several years ago. She has also served as a lower elementary classroom assistant. Next year, Sara will focus on integrating both mindfulness & nutrition lessons throughout all levels at MSOW. Sara is currently coordinating faculty input around a garden project which centers on a hoop house (similar to a greenhouse) donated to the school.

Recently, Sara worked to secure funding to further support development of the Wellness curriculum. Sara is interested in building connections between mind and body to create opportunities for students to take responsibility for their own wellness. She guides students to balance their health and wellbeing so that they are prepared to learn and may find a greater sense of ease and happiness.

Sara graduated from Marquette University with a Bachelor of Science in medical technology and has worked in various medical research fields over the past 20 years. Most recently, Sara completed the Montessori Paraprofessional training and has received certifications in Mindfulness in education (Kindergarten – 8th grade), Alignment Yoga, and Mind Body Stress Reduction (MBSR). Sara believes yoga and mindfulness create a foundation to improve physical strength and flexibility, body awareness, and presence of mind.
